Lance Stewart Gad Scholarship
Established in 2001 by Lance Stewart Gad, J.D. 1970, M.B.A. 1971, in memory of his father, Martin H. Gad, and in honor of his mother, Claire Gad. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of academic merit, character, and financial need, at the discretion of the Dean. Preference will be given to students in the joint J.D./M.B.A. program.
Thomas C. Galligan LL.B. 1932 Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2000 through the bequest of Thomas C. Galligan, Sr., LL.B 1932. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.
Mary Gail Gearns Scholarship
Established in 2013 by gifts from Mary Gail Gearns, J.D. 1985, and David L. Russo, J.D. 1985. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.
George G. Gellert Scholarship Fund
Established by George G. Gellert, B.S. 1960, M.B.A. 1962, J.D. 1963. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean. Preference is given, in this order, to an individual residing in central or Eastern Europe; or to an émigré from that part of the world.
Ellen Schneiderman George J.D. 1972 Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2001 to honor the accomplishments and spirit of Ellen Schneiderman George, J.D. 1972, by gifts from her classmates, family, and friends. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.
T. James Gilligan Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and relatives of T. James Gilligan, A.B. 1931, and a member of the Law School Class of 1935, to provide scholarship assistance to students enrolled in Cornell Law School. Preference may be given to graduates of St. Bonaventure University of Olean, New York. Awarded at the discretion of the Dean.
Dean’s Scholarship endowed by Beth and Marc Goldberg
Established in 2001 by gifts from Marc S. Goldberg, LL.B. 1967, and Beth Goldberg. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of academic merit and financial need at the discretion of the Dean. Each recipient will retain the scholarship for the three years of his or her legal education at Cornell.
Abraham R. and Cecelia B. Goldman Scholarship
Established in 2005 by the estate of Abraham R. Goldman, J.D. 1929. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of merit, at the discretion of the Dean.
Marcia and Mark Goldstein Scholarship
Established in 2001 by gifts from Marcia L. Goldstein, J.D. 1975, and Mark L. Goldstein, J.D. 1976. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of outstanding academic performance and financial need at the discretion of the Dean. Preference is given to students who completed their undergraduate studies at Cornell.
Heber E. Griffith Scholarship
Awarded each year in memory of Heber E. Griffith, A.B. 1911, LL.B. 1914. Funded by grants from the Lee N. and Grace Q. Vedder Foundation, whose assets are now administered by Bucknell University. Mr. Griffith served for many years as a member of the Foundation’s board.
Norman and Barbara Gross Law Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Norman Gross, LL.B. 1953, and Barbara Gross, B.S.H.E. 1953. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.
Rose and Sol Grossman Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2002 in memory of Sol Grossman by gifts from Rose Grossman and Yvette Harmon, J.D. 1969. Renamed in memory of Rose Grossman in 2011. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.
Sheppard and Joan Guryan Scholarship Fund
Established by Sheppard Guryan, J.D. 1967, and his wife, Joan Guryan, in honor of their parents. The scholarship is awarded annually, at the discretion of the Dean.
Hagberg-Jackson Diversity and Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship provides a grant to a Law student with financial need who self-identifies as a member of an underrepresented minority group. It was endowed in 2016 by Mark H. Jackson, A.B. 1981, J.D. 1985, and Karen L. Hagberg, J.D. 1984, and is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.
K. Robert and Mary Hahn Scholarship Fund
Established in 2004 by annual gifts from K. Robert Hahn, J.D. 1948. Each recipient will retain the scholarship for the three years of his or her legal education at Cornell Law School. The scholarship is awarded to deserving law students with financial need, with preference given to students from Southern California, at the discretion of the Dean.
Benjamin Hall Scholarship Fund
A memorial fund established by the Will of Harriet G. Lynch, in honor of Benjamin Wallace Hall of the Cornell Law School Class of 1896. The income is awarded yearly to a law student on the basis of good character, financial need, academic performance, and extracurricular activities-in particular, athletic ability.
Eugene J. Hayman Employment and Labor Law Scholarship Fund
Established by Eugene J. Hayman, B.S. 1948, J.D. 1951. The scholarship is awarded to law students with specific interest in employment and labor law, at the discretion of the Dean.
Heidelberg Fellowship
Established by the German government in honor of Jacob Gould Schurman, a former president of Cornell. The Berger International Legal Studies Program awards the fellowship to a Cornell law student or recent graduate to pursue study and research for one or two semesters at the law faculty of the University of Heidelberg. The Fellowship covers university fees and living costs. A high proficiency in German is a prerequisite.
Jane W. and Thomas J. Heiden J.D. `71 Law Scholarship
Established by a gift from Jane and Thomas Heiden, Esq., the Heiden Law Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean on the basis of academic merit.
Albert and Natalie Heit Law School Scholarship Fund
Established by Albert Heit, A.B. 1932, J.D. 1934, and his wife, Natalie Heit. The scholarship is awarded annually, at the discretion of the Dean.
Albert Heit Scholarship
Established in 2001 by a bequest from Albert Heit A.B. 1932, J.D. 1934, in memory of his parents, Joseph Heit and Elizabeth Heit. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.
Hill Family Scholarship
Established in 2015 by gifts from James J. Hill, J.D. 1991, this fund provides an annual scholarship to an academically meritorious J.D. candidate and is awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean of Cornell Law School.
May Thropp Hill Scholarship Fund
Established by the bequest of May Thropp Hill to provide scholarships and loans for law students, with preference to female students.
Harvey D. and Margaret S. Hinman Law Scholarship Fund
Established in honor of George L. Hinman by his son, Harvey D. Hinman, LL.B. 1965. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need and merit, at the discretion of the Dean.
Alexander Holtzman Scholarship
Established in 2002 by a gift from Alexander Holtzman J.D. 1952. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.
George W. Hoyt Fund
Given to Cornell University by a bequest in the Will of George W. Hoyt, A.B. 1896. Following Mr. Hoyt’s wish that the income be used for the benefit of the Law School, Cornell’s Board of Trustees voted that, for the present, the income be appropriated for scholarships in the Law School.
Percy and Helen Ingerman Scholarship
Established under the will of Helen Ingerman in memory of her husband, Percy Ingerman, J.D. 1935. The scholarship is awarded to deserving students with financial need, at the discretion of the Dean, with preference given to students from Suffolk County, New York.
Arnold and Ellen Jacobs Ezra Cornell Scholarship
Established by a gift from Arnold S. Jacobs, B.M.E. 1961, M.B.A. 1963, LL.B. 1964, and his wife, Ellen Kheel Jacobs, B.A. 1963, M.S. 1964. The scholarship is awarded to worthy students enrolled at the Law School who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
Deborah and Klaus H. Jander Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Klaus H. Jander, J.D. 1964, and Deborah I. Jander. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean, with preference given to first-generation German students.
Class of 1953 Jephson Educational Scholarship Fund
Established by grants from the Jephson Educational Trusts, as approved by its trustees; The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A.; J. Stanley Parkin; and Robert D. Taisey, J.D. 1953. Income from the fund provides scholarship assistance to deserving law students with financial need, at the discretion of the Dean.
Joergensen-Bow Law Scholarship
Established in 2017 by a bequest from the estate of Lorene Joergensen Bow, A.B. 1950, J.D. 1952, and more than doubled in value by a second bequest from the Bow Estate in 2018. This scholarship is awarded to a J.D. candidate at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.
Marc Joseph Law Scholarship
Established in 2007 with gifts from Carol Joseph, Scott Joseph and Peter Joseph, A.B. 1974, in honor of their father, Marc Joseph J.D. 1950. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.
Marc and Lori Kasowitz Scholarship
Established in 2001 with gifts from Lori A. and Marc E. Kasowitz, J.D. 1977. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need, character, and accomplishment, at the discretion of the Dean.
William T. and William B. Kerr Scholarship Fund
A bequest of Frances H. Kerr, in memory of her husband (LL.B. 1921) and son (LL.B. 1959), established this scholarship, which is awarded at the discretion of the Dean on the basis of financial need.
Dr. Hyun Kim Law Scholarship
Established in 2006 by a gift from Dr. Hyun Kim, LL.M 1984. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need to a student or students at the discretion of the Dean.
George H. Kleinberger Scholarship
Established in 2005 by gifts from George H. Kleinberger, LL.B. 1959. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need to students who maintain at least a B grade average for the three years of their legal education at Cornell Law School.
Klosk-Kallett Family Scholarship
Establish by gifts from Craig B. Klosk, B.S. 1981, J.D. 1984, and spouse Patricia Kallett, B.S. 1982, the Klosk-Kallett Family Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean with a preference for a Law student who was a first-generation college student.
Dickson Randolph Knott Memorial
Established by Mrs. Sophia Dickson Knott in honor of her son, 1st Lt. Dickson Randolph Knott, AUS. Lieutenant Knott, ranking student in the Class of 1944 at the end of his first year and wearer of the Purple Heart and the Silver Star, was killed in action in Italy on October 22, 1943. The income is used to assist military veterans enrolled at the Law School.
Walter C. Kovner and Sidney J. Berger Student Aid Fund
Established by Doris Berger Kovner in loving memory of her husband, Walter C. Kovner, J.D. 1937, and her brother, Sidney J. Berger, J.D. 1929. Awarded at the discretion of the Dean, this fund provides assistance to students in special circumstances while pursuing a legal education at Cornell.
Ruthanne Kurtyka and Harvey E. Corn Law School Scholarship Fund
Established by Ruthanne Kurtyka, B.A. 1970, J.D. 1973, and her husband, Harvey E. Corn, J.D. 1973, in honor of their parents. Income from the fund is awarded to law students with financial need, at the discretion of the Dean. Unless the requirements for the scholarship are not met in any given year, each recipient will retain the scholarship for the three years of his or her legal education at Cornell Law School. Preference is given to graduates of Cornell University and/or Alfred University.
Kuwasaki Family Scholarship
Endowed in 1999 by Rex S. Kuwasaki, J.D. 1954, on behalf of the Kuwasaki family. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the dean.
Latino American Law Students Association – Carlos Caceres J.D. `91 Law Scholarship
The LALSA – Caceres Law Scholarship provides an annual grant at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean of Cornell Law School to a J.D. candidate with demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to students of Latino family heritage. The scholarship is named in part for Cornell Law alumnus Carlos Caceres J.D. `91, who was killed in West Timor on September 6, 2000, when a militia mob attacked an office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Carlos Caceres was in West Timor as an aid worker.
Henry F. Leonardo Scholarship
Established in honor of Henry F. Leonardo, LL.B. 1924, by his wife, Ann. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need to a first-year law student, at the discretion of the Dean.
George J. Lepofsky Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of George J. Lepofsky, J.D. 1950, by the Alex J. Weinstein Foundation. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Law School student based on financial need and scholastic achievement.
Irving B. Levenson Scholarship Fund
Established by gifts from Irving B. Levenson, J.D. 1953. Income provides support to a worthy law student with financial need. The scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Dean.
Douglas V. Lewis Scholarship
Established in memory of Douglas V. Lewis, A.B. 1935, J.D. 1937, by gifts from Mrs. Beth Horan Lewis, former colleagues, and friends. The scholarship is awarded annually to a worthy student at the discretion of the Dean.
Herman Lewis Scholarship
Endowed in 2001 by Barbara B. Lewis, B.S. 1965, M.A. 1967, and Jack L. Lewis, J.D. 1969, in memory of his father. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need. Preference is given to students from New York City.
Katherine R. Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Katherine R. Lewis, A.B. 1942, J.D. 1947, by General Myron S. Lewis, A.B. 1942, J.D. 1947, and family. The scholarship provides support to meritorious Law School students with financial need, at the discretion of the Dean.
Werner G. Lomker Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Werner G. Lomker, A.B. 1955, LL.B. 1958, by his parents. The income provides a scholarship for law students with financial need, at the discretion of the dean, and may favor visually-impaired students from the Northeast.
