Back to Class CLE Program – “Truth, Lies & AI: Legal Information and Responsibility in GPT

Myron Taylor Hall, Landis Auditorium, Room 184
We know that the internet already can be a tangled web of information, misinformation, and copious data. The explosion of data-driven AI tools and chatbots, and their entry into the legal information arena, is beginning to dramatically shift the generation of information, and misinformation. Lawyers and clients are watching the looming specter of generative AI in legal information. How can savvy attorneys harness the boundless potential of AI to deliver accurate and effective legal information and advice to their clients, while maintaining the integrity of their practice of law? Join Kim Nayyer, Edward Cornell Law Librarian, Associate Dean for Library Services, and Professor of the Practice as she breaks down the basics of the world of big data and generative AI, their impact on legal and other information, and ways to discern disinformation from reliable legal information.

Attendees will receive 1.0 NY CLE credit in the area of Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection. Attorneys who practice outside New York may be eligible for reciprocal CLE credit. Back to Class CLE Program – “The Enterprise Data Privacy Program: What, Why, and How”

Myron Taylor Hall, Landis Auditorium, Room 184
Co-sponsored with SC Johnson School of Business
While data privacy programs are rooted in information governance best practices that pre-exist most modern tech companies, the regulatory landscape concerning privacy continues to evolve, leading to a legally driven area that may or may not consider the best practices that inform legal outcomes. This evolution comes with costly consequences for failing to implement an effective data privacy program in any organization, which makes it more important than ever to do privacy the right way – implementing and maintaining an enterprise-wide privacy program based on data governance. Join Gage Javier, MBA ’16, Associate, Crowell and Moring LLP, and James Mariani, LLM Tech ’18, Head of Privacy, Paxos, as they discuss what creating and scaling a privacy program looks like at a company in the modern, data-driven world.

Attendees will receive 1.0 NY CLE credit in the area of Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection. Attorneys who practice outside New York may be eligible for reciprocal CLE credit. This program is appropriate for in-person newly admitted and experienced attorneys, and for remote experienced attorneys
