McGaan O’Dwyer Law Scholarship
Established by Andrew R. McGaan, A.B. 1983, J.D. 1986, in 2016 to help support J.D. candidates, with preference for a Law student who holds a Cornell undergraduate degree. Awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.
John T. McGovern Scholarship
Established by John S. McGovern in memory of his father, John T. McGovern, J.D. 1900. The award is made annually to a law student, at the discretion of the dean.
Norma Meacham and Melvin Osterman Scholarship
Established in 2002 with gifts from Norma Meacham, B.S. 1974, J.D. 1977, and Melvin H. Osterman, A.B. 1955, J.D. 1957. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need, with preference given to undergraduate Cornellians, at the discretion of the dean.
Celeste Mercer Scholarship
Established in 2002 by gifts from Raymond J. Minella J.D. 1974 in honor of his mother, Celeste Mercer. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need at the discretion of the dean.
George J. Mersereau Fellowship and Scholarship
Established through a bequest from the estate of Mrs. Edna Beahan Mersereau in memory of her husband, George J. Mersereau. The scholarship is for law students who, by reason of character, ability, and need, are deemed exceptionally deserving of financial assistance.
Linda R. and Harry P. Messina, Jr. Scholarship
Established In 2006 by a gift from Harry P. Messina LL.B. 1957. The scholarship is awarded to a law student who either majored in Music or was otherwise significantly involved in music performance as an undergraduate.
Mavis C. and Stanley D. Metzger A.B. 1936, LL.B 1938 Scholarship
Established through gifts of Mavis Metzger and Stanley Metzger A.B 1936, LL.B 1938. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of need at the discretion of the dean. If possible, the scholarship will be awarded to the same student in all three years of their law school education.
Leonard T. Milliman Cooperative Law Scholarship
A gift of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Milliman in memory of their son, Ens. Leonard T. Milliman, USN. The scholarship is awarded to a law student who has an agricultural background and is a potential specialist in the field of farmer-producer cooperative law.

Lewis W. Morse Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Lewis W. Morse, LL.B. 1928, who served on the faculty from 1931 to 1969, by friends and associates. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the dean.
Paula J. Mueller Scholarship
Established in 2001 by Paula J. Mueller, A.B. 1968, J.D. 1973. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the dean. Preference will be given to students who completed their undergraduate studies at Cornell.
The Laura Taylor Mulvaney LL.B. 1934 Scholarship
Established in 2011 by Jack G. Clarke, Esq., LL.B. 1952, to honor the memory of Mrs. Mulvaney, who, while previously unrecognized, served as the first female instructor at Cornell Law School by teaching Future Interests, and also served for many years as the Director of Research for the New York State Law Revision Commission, which was housed at the Law School. The Mulvaney Scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the dean.
Mutchnik Scholarship
Established in 2017 through endowment gifts by Allan G. Mutchnik, J.D. 1988, and spouse Nicole, the Mutchnik Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean to a Law student of academic merit.
Walter & Chong Sun Nam Law Scholarship
Established by Samuel S. Nam J.D. ’88 in honor of his parents, this scholarship is awarded each year at the discretion of the Dean of Cornell Law School with “preference for a student with a recent ancestral history of immigration to the United States or with a diverse background.”
Michael G. Nast Advocate for Justice Scholarship
Established by Dianne M. Nast in memory of her son, Michael Nast A.B. 1989, J.D. 1992. It is awarded annually on the basis of financial need to Cornell Law School students with preference given to students who actively advocate for social justice on behalf of children and the elderly. The Law School Office of Financial Aid will identify three financial aid eligible candidates. Biographical information will be forwarded to the Michael G. Nast Memorial Foundation for review and final selection.

Established in 2001 with gifts from the family of Erna and Bernard Newman, including Yvette Harmon, J.D. 1969. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the dean.
Lawrence Nirenstein Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Lawrence Nirenstein, A.B. 1952, LL.B. 1954, by his law firm, good friends, and classmates. The scholarship is awarded to deserving and needy law students, at the discretion of the dean.
Joseph D. Norris, Esq., Health Law Public Policy Scholarship
Established by John A. Norris, J.D. 1973, in honor of his father. The award is made annually to one or more students in the joint J.D. and M.B.A. program who have a special interest in health law.
Mark D. Nozette ’74 Scholarship
Established in 2011 by Mark D. Nozette J.D. 1974, to provide financial assistance to a J.D. candidate who has demonstrated academic merit and financial need. The Nozette Scholarship is free of special requirements that might limit its conferral, making it one of the most versatile scholarships in Cornell Law School.
Class of 1968 Walter E. Oberer Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2003 by members of the Cornell Law School Class of 1968 in honor of Professor Walter Oberer, who taught contract law at Cornell Law School. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Cornell Law Student on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the dean.
Joan Oppenheimer Scholarship
Established in 2001 by Joan I. Oppenheimer J.D. 1971. The scholarship is awarded annually to a law student on the basis of character and financial need at the discretion of the dean.
Russell K. Osgood Scholarship
Established in honor of former dean Osgood by his friends and colleagues. The award is made annually on the basis of need and merit, at the discretion of the dean.
Norman Penney Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Norman Penney, J.D. 1953, who served on the faculty from 1957 to 1981, by friends and associates. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the dean.
Marshall and Eileen Phelps Family Scholarship
Established by Eileen and Marshall C. Phelps, J.D. 1969, this fund provides scholarship grants to J.D. candidates of outstanding academic merit and demonstrated financial need. It is awarded at the discretion of the dean.
Anthony and Rosemary Phillips Scholarship Fund
Established by Anthony F. Phillips, LL.B. 1962, and his wife, Rosemary L. Phillips. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the dean.
Melvin I. Pitt Scholarship
Established in memory of Melvin Ira Pitt, LL.B. 1950, by his family, classmates, and friends.
Potash Family Scholarship
Established in 2017 by Arnold M. Potash, A.B. 1958, J.D. 1961, and his wife Madeline Potash, A.B. 1961. The Potash Family Scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean to a meritorious Law student.
Cuthbert W. Pound Fund
Created through contributions made in memory of Cuthbert W. Pound, Class of 1887, chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals and at one time a member of the faculty of Cornell Law School.
Public Interest Fellowships
Administered by the Public Interest Law Union and supported by donations from students, alumni, and faculty members. Each year a committee of students and faculty members awards fellowships to selected student applicants pursuing public interest summer jobs that pay little or no salary, thereby making it possible for those students to accept such jobs. In recent years Public Interest Fellowships have been awarded to students working for legal services, public defenders’ offices, civil rights organizations, and other agencies and groups.
Karina Lynn Pulec J.D. 2013 Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2018 by Larry and Michelle Pulec, parents of Karina Lynn Pulec, J.D. 2013, in honor and memory of their daughter. This scholarship is awarded to a J.D. candidate at Cornell Law School at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.
Rosemary Pye Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Rosemary Pye, J.D. 1974. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the dean. Preference will be given to a student who plans to practice law with the government or other public interest position.
Aaron and Clara Greenhut Rabinowitz Scholarship
Established in 2017 by an additional gift from the Sun Hill Family Foundation to the endowment of the Tudor Foundation Student Loan Fund. The additional gift converted the loan fund to an endowed Law scholarship fund in honor of Aaron and Clara Greenhut Rabinowitz, awarded to a Law student with demonstrated financial need at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.
Marcus A. Radice Scholarship
Established in 2001 with gifts from Anthony M. Radice, A.B. 1966, J.D. 1969, and his wife Patricia Crown, in memory of his father, B.S. 1929. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit, at the discretion of the dean. Preference will be given to students who completed their undergraduate studies at Cornell.

Established in 2004 by Bernard R. Rapoport, A.B. 1939, J.D. 1941 and the Leon Lowenstein Foundation in memory of Bernard’s wife, Robyrta J. Rapoport. The scholarship is awarded annually to a worthy candidate at the discretion of the dean.

Justice Walter J. Relihan, Jr., Scholarship Fund
A gift of the Honorable Walter J. Relihan, Jr., A.B. 1952, J.D. 1959. The scholarship recognizes excellence and provides assistance to needy and deserving students. Income is awarded annually to a law student at the discretion of the dean.

Ritter Memorial Fund Scholarship
Established by a gift from the Gerald and Mary Ellen Ritter Memorial Fund. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need and merit at the discretion of the dean. Preference is given to law students who were undergraduates at Cornell and are participants in a combined degree program.
Ralph K. Robertson Scholarship
Established by a bequest from the estate of Maj. Gen. Robert K. Robertson, LL.B. 1906, to be awarded to worthy law students.
Susan and Nathan Robfogel Scholarship

The Rosetta Scholarship
Established by an anonymous gift, the scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need. Preference will be given to students from developing nations as defined by the United Nations, with greatest preference given to students from Africa.
Faust Rossi Scholarship
This fund, established in 2019 through a gift from T. Thomas Cottingham, J.D. 1976, honors legendary Cornell Law professor Faust F. Rossi, Samuel S. Leibowitz Professor of Trial Techniques, Emeritus, who instructed and inspired countless Law students during his estimable service as a member of the Cornell Law faculty from 1966 until his retirement in 2013. Conferred annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.
Baron Edmond de Rothschild Foundation Scholarship
Established in 2000 and augmented by the philanthropy of the Baron Edmond de Rothschild Foundation, as determined by the Foundation’s directors — including Stanley Komaroff, A.B. 1956, J.D. 1958 — this endowment fund provides an annual scholarship, awarded on the criterion of financial need, to a European LL.M. candidate at Cornell Law School who intends to return to Europe to pursue legal practice. In acknowledgement of and with respect to the wishes of the Rothschild Foundation, Cornell Law School gives preference to an LL.M. candidate from France, or of French or Swiss descent, in awarding the Rothschild Foundation Scholarship.

Joseph S. Ruggie, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2001 in memory of Joseph S. Ruggie, Jr., A.B. 1959, J.D. 1965, with gifts from his wife, Carol Conley-Ruggie, and his family, friends and business associates. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and character, at the discretion of the dean. In recognition of the importance of high-quality writing to the practice and study of law, preference will be given to students who majored in English as undergraduates.

Established in 2001 with gifts from Suzanne Wheeler, Deborah Craft, Denise Rush, and Sharon Rush, A.B. 1974, J.D. 1980, in loving memory of their parents, Betty I. and William P. Rush, devoted career employees of Cornell. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the dean. Preference will be given to students who plan a career in civil rights law.
