Abbey Family Scholarship Fund
Established in 2006 by a gift from G. Marshall Abbey J.D. 1957.  The scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Dean.  First preference will be given to a student from Forestville High School, in Forestville, NY, followed by preference for a student with an undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester.

Virginia and Thomas Tilley Adams J.D. 1957 Scholarship
Established in 2003 by gifts from David P. Mason, J.D. 1988.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need, at the discretion of the Dean.

Charles M. Adelman and Deborah G. Adelman Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Charles Adelman, A.B. 1970, J.D. 1973, and Deborah Adelman, B.S. 1971, M.S. 1974.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean, with preference given to a student who completed his or her undergraduate studies at Cornell University.

Carl Anthony Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Carl Anthony, A.B. 1950, J.D. 1953, by gifts from his family, friends, and associates, and the Cornell Club of Northern California.  The income is awarded annually to a law student.

Alfred Appel, A.B. 1926, LL.B. 1928 Scholarship
Established in 2002 in memory of Alfred Appel A.B. 1926, LL.B. 1928, by a gift from Beatrice H. Appel.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.

Doris R. Arthur and Walter W. Arthur Scholarship
Established by a bequest from the estate of Doris R. Arthur, in keeping with the wishes and intentions of her husband, Walter W. Arthur J.D. ’55.  This scholarship is awarded by the Dean to an academically meritorious student in need of financial support.

Robert J. Auchter Scholarship
Established by a gift from Florence F. Auchter and Paul J. Auchter, B.S. 1960, J.D. 1963, in honor of Mr. Auchter’s brother, Robert J. Auchter.  The scholarship is awarded to a second-year law student, on the basis of financial need and academic merit, at the discretion of the Dean.

R. Franklin and Marcia Balotti Scholarship
Established in 2001 by gifts from Frank Balotti, J.D. 1967 and Marcia Balotti in memory of their parents.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.  Preference will be given to a minority student interested in business law.

Daniel Webster Barmon, LL.B. 1894 and Marcus Barmon, LL.B. 1898 Scholarship
Established in 2018 by Eric B. Fastiff, J.D. 1995 in honor of his great-great uncle and his great-grandfather, respectively. Awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean to a Law student who demonstrates financial need and is either a citizen of the United States; a permanent resident of the U.S.; or has lived the majority of his or her life in the U.S.

L. Burton Barnes III Memorial Scholarship
Established by the class of 1976, this scholarship is awarded to a first-year law student on the basis of financial need and merit.  The scholarship honors L. Burton Barnes III, who graduated in 1976 and died of cancer in 1994.  Barnes, who grew up in Mississippi, is remembered by his classmates for his scholarship, his integrity, and most of all for his abiding sense of humor.

F. Gregory Barnhart and Susan L. Gordon Scholarship
Established in 2016 by F. Gregory Barnhart, J.D. 1976, and Susan L. Gordon, J.D. 1976, to provide a scholarship grant to a J.D. student at the Law School.  Awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.

Charles A. and Jane L. Beach Law Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Charles A. Beach, J.D. 1973, and Jane Lindell Shlionsky Beach, M.A.T.  1968.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.

Dean’s Scholarship Endowed by Catherine and Paul Beltz
Established in 2002 by gifts from Paul W. Beltz J.D. 1953, and Catherine Beltz.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.  Preference will be given to students holding an undergraduate degree from St. Bonaventure University.

Leo and Arvilla Berger Scholarship
Established by friends and colleagues in recognition of the seventieth birthday of Leo V. Berger, B.S. 1942, J.D. 1956, and in honor of Leo and Arvilla Berger’s forty-fifth wedding anniversary.  The scholarship is awarded annually to a law student at the discretion of the Dean.

Sidney J. Berger Merit Scholarship
Established from the estate of Sidney J. Berger, J.D. 1929.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of merit, at the discretion of the Dean.

Sidney J. Berger Scholarship
Established by gifts from Sidney J. Berger, J.D. 1929.  Income from the fund provides financial assistance annually to a worthy and needy law student. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Dean.

John Keith Blackman and Mary Etta Blackman Scholarship
Established by the Will of Ruth B. Rodgers to provide scholarships to talented and needy upper-class law students.

Louise Blassberg Scholarship
Endowed in 2000 by Franci J. Blassberg, A.B. 1975, J.D. 1977, in loving memory of her mother.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, with preference given to students with a Cornell undergraduate degree.  Each recipient will retain the scholarship for the three years of his or her legal education at Cornell.

Martin L. Blatt Loan Fund
Established by Martin L. Blatt, A.B. 1956, J.D. 1958.  For students throughout the University as well as for law students.  Loans to law students are provided under the supervision and at the discretion of the Dean.

Bloustein-Mofsky Class of 1959 Scholarship
Established by classmates, friends, and family in memory of Edward J. Bloustein, Ph.D. 1954, J.D. 1959, and James S. Mofsky, J.D. 1959.  The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Dean.

David and Daniel Boehnen Scholarship
Established in 2001 through gifts from brothers Daniel Boehnen J.D. 1976 and David Boehnen J.D. 1971.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need at the discretion of the Dean.

George G. Bogert Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of George G. Bogert, A.B. 1906, LL.B. 1908, who served on the faculty from 1911 to 1926 and was Dean from 1921 to 1926.  Income is awarded on the basis of need and scholarship.  Preference is given to highly qualified descendants of Professor Bogert.

Mario St. George Boiardi Scholarship
Established in 2004 with gifts from Meryl and Mel Cherney J.D. 1977 in memory of Mario St. George Boiardi, a Cornell undergraduate of high academic and athletic accomplishment and outstanding moral character.  George Boiardi died in 2004 while representing Cornell as a member of its varsity lacrosse team.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need at the discretion of the Dean.

Charles D. Bostwick Law Scholarship
Given in memory of Charles D. Bostwick, LL.B. 1894, former comptroller and treasurer of the university, by Mrs. Charles D. Bostwick and Mr. J. B. S. Johnson, a cousin of Mr. Bostwick.  The award is made by the faculty.

Charles K. Burdick Scholarship
Established in memory of Dean Burdick by alumni who were members of the student society Curia.

Gerard R. and Anna M. Calabrese Scholarship
Joseph A. Calabrese J.D. 1981 established this scholarship in honor of his parents, Gerard and Anna Calabrese. The Calabrese Scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean of Cornell Law School. First preference is given to an academically meritorious student who is the first in his or her family to attend law school, and/or whose parents did not receive a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree. By including this preference among the awarding criteria, Joseph Calabrese acknowledges the sacrifices his father and mother made to help him achieve a college degree and a law school education.

The Calvani Scholarship Fund
Terry Calvani J.D. 1972 endowed this scholarship in 2001 in honor of his parents, Torello H. Calvani and Mary V. Calvani. Awarded annually to a law student on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.

Pamela L. Rollins and Alejandro E. Camacho Law Scholarship
Endowed in 2006 by Pamela L. Rollins A.B.’79, J.D.’82, M.B.A.’84 and Alejandro E. Camacho J.D.’84, this scholarship provides tuition support to a Law School student who self-identifies as Hispanic or other minority. Preference is given to such students who hold undergraduate degrees from Hobart College and/or Cornell University. The Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Dean.

Alfred J. Casazza Sr. Scholarship
William J. Casazza J.D. 1985 established this scholarship in honor of his father, Alfred J. Casazza, Sr. The primary purpose of the Casazza Scholarship is to provide full annual tuition support to a Cornell Law student who has demonstrated academic excellence and financial need and whose parents did not achieve a bachelor’s level or equivalent university degree. By including this preference among the awarding criteria, William Casazza acknowledges the sacrifices his father and mother made to help him achieve a college degree and a law school education. Secondary preference is given to a student who is the first in their family to attend law school and then to a student from the Greater Boston area.

Arthur S. Chatman Memorial Scholarship
Relatives, friends, and business associates of Arthur S. Chatman, A.B. 1952, LL.B. 1957, established this scholarship in his memory. Awarded to a law student, on the basis of financial need and academic merit, at the discretion of the Dean.

Class of 1936 Scholarship
Gifts from the members of the Law School Class of 1936 in honor of their 50th reunion year converted the Class of 1936 Evidence Prize to this endowed scholarship. Income is awarded annually to second-year law students, one male and one female, on the basis of strong scholarship, at the discretion of the Dean.

Class of 1941 Scholarship Fund
Members of the Law School Class of 1941 established this scholarship in honor of their fiftieth reunion. Income is used to provide scholarship assistance to meritorious law students with financial need, at the discretion of the Dean.

Class of 1951 Law School Scholarship Fund
Members of the Law School Class of 1951established this scholarship through gifts in honor of their thirty-fifth reunion year. Income is awarded to law students, on the basis of financial need and strong scholarship, at the discretion of the Dean.

Class of 1957 Scholarship
Established by gifts from members of the Class of 1957. The scholarship is awarded to law students, on the basis of financial need and academic merit, at the discretion of the Dean.

Class of 1966 Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1986 by members of the Law School Class of 1966 in honor of their 20th Reunion, this scholarship was re-named in 1991 in memory of classmates Robert M. Ralls and David B. Tilley, Sr., who had passed away by the time of their 25th Reunion. The fund now memorializes all deceased members of the Cornell Law School Class of 1966. Income is awarded to law students on the basis of need and scholarship, and at the discretion of the Dean.

Class of 1967 Scholarship
Established by members of the Law Class of 1967 in honor of their 50th Reunion year, this scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean of Cornell Law School to a J.D. candidate of academic merit.

Class of 1969 Raymond C. Marier Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1994 by Raymond C. Marier, J.D. 1969, the scholarship was renamed in his honor and enriched by members of the Class of 1969 and Ray’s friends and associates in his memory. The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.

Class of 1969 Albert and Doris Neimeth Scholarship
Originally established by Al Neimeth A.B. 1950, J.D. 1952 and wife Doris, the Neimeth Scholarship was renamed in 2019 by gifts from the Cornell Law Class of 1969 to mark its 50th Reunion and in honor of Al and Doris Neimeth, who devoted themselves heart and soul to Cornell University, its Law School, and the students and alumni of both for many years. The Neimeth scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.

Class of 1972 Scholarship
Established by members of the Law Class of 1972 in honor of their 45th Reunion year, this scholarship provides assistance to students with demonstrated financial need, enrolled in the Law School at Cornell University. Primary preference for a student who is both first generation and has demonstrated financial need and, in the event a student meeting both criteria is not present, a secondary preference for a student with demonstrated financial need.

Class of 1973 Scholarship
Established by members of the Cornell Law School Class of 1973 and awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean to a J.D. candidate with financial need.

Class of 1985 Scholarship
Established by members of the Cornell Law School Class of 1985 and awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean to a J.D. candidate with financial need.

Class of 1986 Scholarship
The Law Class of 1986 Scholarship was established in 2016 with a leadership gift from Daryl A. Libow, J.D. `86, and Beth Wait Libow, J.D. `86. It is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean of Cornell Law School to provide financial assistance to academically meritorious J.D. candidates with financial need enrolled at Cornell Law School.

Class of 1998 Scholarship
Established by members of the Cornell Law School Class of 1998 and awarded at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean.

Fordyce A. Cobb and Herbert L. Cobb Law Scholarship
Donated in memory of Fordyce A. Cobb, LL.B. 1893, and Herbert L. Cobb of the Class of 1906, by their sister. The award is made to a law student by the faculty.

Vanhille Colomb Scholarship Fund
Established by gifts from the estate of Vanhille Colomb. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.

Cornell Black Law Students Association Scholarship Fund
Established by the Cornell Black Law Students Association to provide tuition assistance to worthy African-American students with financial need. The award is made annually at the discretion of the Dean.

Cornell Law Alumni Achievement Scholarship
Established through gifts from Risa M. Mish, B.S. 1985, J.D. 1988, and John A. Lauricella, M.F.A. 1987, M.A. 1991, Ph.D. 1993. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit to a student with financial need, at the discretion of the Dean.

Cornell Law Association Scholarship
Awarded annually to a deserving law student with financial need, in honor of a member of the faculty.

William D. Cunningham Memorial Fund
Established from the estate of Ettina M. Cunningham as a memorial to her husband, William D. Cunningham. The Cunningham Memorial Fund provides scholarships for worthy students of high character. Preference is given to law students.

W. David Curtiss Law Scholarship
Established in 2007 to honor the life and work of Professor Emeritus W. David Curtiss A.B. 1938, LL.B 1940, who began his career at Cornell Law School in 1947 and retired in 1986. The scholarship was made possible by members of the Class of 1952 with the hope that others will join them in paying tribute to the life and work of Professor Curtiss.

Francis K. Dalley Fund
Established by bequest stipulated in the Will of Gretta D. Dalley to aid worthy law students who most deserve financial assistance.

Dean’s International Fellowship
Established in 2000 in honor of Dorothea S. and Jack G. Clarke, LL.B. 1952, for their lifetime generosity to Cornell Law School.  The annual award for full tuition is given to a student enrolled in the J.D. program who plans a career in international law.  This Fellowship is awarded on the basis of academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.

Nelson C. Doland Jr. Scholarship
Established through the bequest of Nelson C. Doland, Jr., LL.B 1942, in memory of his father, Nelson C. Doland Sr., his mother, Ethel S. Doland, and his wife, Jayne S. Doland. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.

John J. and Norene A. D’Onofrio Scholarship Fund
Established by a gift from John J. D’Onofrio, J.D. 1976, and his wife, Norene A. D’Onofrio, to provide assistance to worthy law students.  Preference is given to married students in need of financial assistance.

Albert and Suzanne Dorskind Student Assistance Fund
Established by a gift from Albert A. Dorskind, J.D. 1948, and his wife, Suzanne Dorskind.  Financial assistance is provided to deserving law students with demonstrated need, at the discretion of the Dean.  Preference is given to students interested in public interest law.

William H. Dunham Scholarship
Established in 1999 by the estate of William H. Dunham Sr., J.D. 1937.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit at the discretion of the Dean.

M. Harold Dwyer Scholarship Fund
Established by a gift from the estate of M. Harold Dwyer, J.D. 1935.  The income is awarded annually to a law student at the discretion of the Dean, with preference given to Native Americans, especially members of the Onondaga and other Iroquois peoples.

Miriam K. Dye Scholarship Fund
Established by the Honorable Marvin R. Dye, LL.B. 1917, in honor of his wife, Miriam. The income is awarded to second-year students in the Law School or in the College of Arts and Sciences on the basis of character, scholarship, and financial need.

Philip and Betsy Eisenberg Scholarship
Established by Philip M. Eisenberg, J.D. 1964, and his wife, Betsy Sevin Eisenberg.  The scholarship is awarded annually to a second- or third-year law student, on the basis of academic merit and financial need, at the discretion of the Dean, with preference given to students with a special interest in land-use and environmental law.

Franklyn Ellenbogen, Jr., Memorial Scholarship
Established by the family of Franklyn Ellenbogen, Jr., a member of the Class of 1953 in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Law School Class of 1955, and generously enriched by his sister Marjorie Ellenbogen.  The income is awarded to a law student on the basis of financial need.

Estabrook Gibbons Scholarship
Originally established in 2001 with gifts from Anne Evans Estabrook, B.S. 1965, M.B.A. 1966, and Kenneth L. Estabrook, A.B. 1949, LL.B. 1951, in honor of the 50th reunion of the Law School Class of 1951, this scholarship endowment was significantly augmented in 2015 by a new gift to principal from the Elberon Development Company, LLC, Anne Estabrook, and her son David Gibbons, J.D. 1996.  The scholarship is awarded annually to a meritorious J.D. candidate at the discretion of the Dean, with preference given to students who completed their undergraduate studies at Cornell.

M. Carr and Marian Ferguson Law Scholarship
Established in 2000 by M. Carr Ferguson, A.B. 1952, LL.B. 1954, and Marian Ferguson, A.M. 1954.  The scholarship is awarded to a second-year law student based on academic achievement and excellence beyond the classroom.

George Washington Fields LL.B. 1890 Law Scholarship
Leadership gifts from Andrianne S. Payson-Livingston J.D. `00, Laura A. Wilkinson M.B.A. `85, J.D. `86, and Ernest Eric Elmore A.B. `86, J.D. `89 inspired alumni to establish this scholarship to commemorate the life and achievement of George Washington Fields, who was born a slave in 1854, became the first African-American to graduate from Cornell’s Department of Law, and eventually established a law practice in Hampton, Virginia. The Fields Scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Allan R. Tessler Dean on the basis of academic merit to a J.D. candidate.

Allan T. Fisher Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Allan T. Fisher, J.D. 1979, who struggled with cancer throughout his years at the Law School and thereafter, until his death in 1983.  The fund was created by his family, friends, and fellow students.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need at the discretion of the Dean.  Preference is given to law students who have suffered extraordinary medical problems or physical handicaps.

Jane M. G. Foster Scholarship
Cornell University’s Board of Trustees established this scholarship in honor of Jane M. G. Foster, LL.B. 1918, for her generous contributions to the Law School.  The Foster Scholarship is awarded to Cornell students of law on the basis of financial need and scholarship

Dean’s Scholarship endowed by Nina and Samuel Frankenheim
Established in 2001 with gifts from Samuel Frankenheim, LL.B. 1959, and Nina Frankenheim.  The scholarship is awarded annually on the basis of financial need and academic merit.  Each recipient will retain the scholarship for the three years of his or her legal education at Cornell.

Sarah Betsy Fuller Social Justice Fund
Established in 2004 in memory of Sarah Betsy Fuller by her family and friends.  The fund provides a grant in the Public Interest Low-Income Protection Plan each year.  It is administered by the Assistant Dean for Public Service in cooperation with the Financial Aid Office.  Candidates apply for this grant, and the recipient’s public-interest legal work must reflect the ideals of social justice that Sarah Betsy Fuller exemplified throughout her life.
