Herff Jones will be at the Law School on Wednesday, April 17 from 10:00-3:00. If you ordered regalia for law school pick-up, please plan on picking up your regalia at that time. If you’re unable to pick up your regalia, you can ask a friend or classmate to pick up your regalia.

4:00 PM – Reception for all graduates and guests at Myron Taylor Hall

These plans are subject to change if the public health situation warrants. Graduates will receive an e-mail update if there any changes to Law School plans for Convocation. Up-to-date information on Convocation also will be available on the Law School’s Convocation website.

If you or your guests require special accommodations to attend the event, please email: law.dos@cornell.edu

Please record your name pronunciation here:

Please read the following to plan for your participation in the Convocation ceremony:

Attire

Graduates should wear light clothing, as gowns are warm, and comfortable shoes. We recommend taking off jackets before putting on gowns.

Arrival and Lining Up

All graduates and guests should arrive at Newman Arena, Bartels Hall no later than 12:30 PM. Graduates will proceed to the Ramin Room (when facing the auditorium, go right and follow signage; the Ramin Room is where the climbing wall is located).

As you enter the Ramin Room, you will see a check-in table. There will be separate check-ins for JD and LLM graduates. You will be given a card with your number for the alphabetical line-up of graduates. You must keep your card for line-up and to match with your assigned seat in Newman Arena. You may rejoin your family prior to 1:15 but must return to the Ramin Room at that time as line-up begins promptly.

Line-up and Processional

Graduates will begin lining up for the processional in the Ramin Room promptly at 1:15. There will be two tall signs, one for JD Graduates and one for LLM, LLM/Tech, JSD, and JD/LLM graduates, the “LLM+ Line.” Please assemble behind the sign for your degree program in numerical order. Note that numerical order for the LLM+ line is alphabetical by degree program.

Once you have processed into Newman arena, remain standing when you reach your seat. Once all graduates have entered and are standing at their seats, the faculty will process in and take their seats on the stage. The ceremony will begin.

Recognition

Ushers will direct you up to the stage for the graduate recognition. A volunteer will direct you up the ramp to the stage. Your name will be announced and you will walk across the stage.

Dean Ohlin will be standing towards the middle of the stage. You will stop momentarily to shake Dean Ohlin’s hand, at which point, GradImages will take your picture.

After the handshake, proceed to the far-left side of the stage to a second ramp. Proceed down the ramp and back to your seat.

Conclusion of Ceremony

Once all graduates have been recognized, Dean Ohlin will provide concluding remarks and introduce the Alma Mater. Stand for the singing of the Alma Mater. Words are printed in the program. After the Alma Mater, you should remain standing while the faculty recesses. Once the faculty has recessed, the ceremony is officially over.
