The Cornell Law School Alumni Association consists of a global community of alumni who are engaged and committed to supporting the law school in its mission to “keep its instruction strong, its standards high,” and to produce lawyers in the best sense. The Association’s objectives are “to foster close associations between Cornell Law School (the Law School) and its alumni, and among its alumni; to promote the interests and welfare of the Law School; and to promote the practice of law and the highest standards of learning and ethics in the legal profession.” Bylaws, Article II.

“Any person who holds a J.D., LL.M., LL.B., J.S.D. or M.S.L.S. degree from the Law School and the faculty and teaching staff of the Law School are automatically members of the Alumni Association (Association Members). In addition, the Alumni Board shall have the discretion to allow other persons to become Association Members.

The Cornell Law School Alumni Association is served by an Alumni Board. The Alumni Board has the power to carry out the objectives of the Alumni Association; to manage the Association’s affairs; and to establish and enforce the rules for governing the Alumni Association.
