Welcome to the Field of Law. The Field offers qualified students the opportunity to obtain an advanced graduate degree in a Juris Science Doctor (J.S.D.) degree program. The Graduate School at Cornell is organized by “fields” rather than departments and Cornell Law School covers the Field of Law. 

This handbook outlines J.S.D. degree requirements and expectations.  

The Field of Law faculty, Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), Graduate Field Administrator (GFA), Dean of Students office, and the Dean of Cornell Law School make every effort to address student needs. This handbook provides supplemental information specific to the Field of Law and should be used in conjunction with information published by the Graduate School.
