Akua Akyea | Associate Dean, Career Development Office
Dean Akyea leads a re-imagined office focused on supporting students and alumni in all practice areas. As Assistant Dean for Public Service at the Law School, she counseled students and alumni on both domestic and international public interest opportunities and on ways to incorporate pro bono in a corporate practice. Before coming to Cornell Law School, she was Assistant Dean of Career Services at the University of Iowa College of Law. Prior to that, she was director of Public Interest at Yale Law School for five years. And prior to that, she was at Columbia Law School’s Social Justice Initiatives — where she directed several public interest and human rights summer programs.
Akua is a graduate of the University of Iowa Law School, where she served on the Journal of Transnational Law & Contemporary Problems and was a member of the Legal Clinic working on asylum petitions and §1983 cases. She has presented on international public interest careers, working with public interest alumni, and supporting students’ social justice goals at the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) and Equal Justice Works conferences.
Akua has also worked on issues of cross-cultural communication and diversity, is a trained mediator, and served as a counselor for at-risk high school students through the Upward Bound Project. She has traveled and lived in several countries in Europe, East and West Africa, and North America.
Brianna Kosowitz | Director of Recruitment Programs & Administration
Brianna received her undergraduate degree in 2012 from the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Rochester. She then graduated with a Master’s in Public History from American University in 2014. Brianna has extensive experience in nonprofit management, event planning, project planning, marketing, and communications from her time as Executive Director the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum and as Visitor Experience Manager at the Smithsonian American History Museum.
As the Director of Recruitment Programs & Administration at Cornell Law School she works with legal employers and alumni to provide professional work opportunities and educational programming to Cornell Law Students. She manages on-campus events for the Office of Career Development and leads all planning for the August Job Fair and on-campus interviews and recruiting.
Virginia Clarke | Director of Career Services
Virginia J. Clarke, Director of Career Services at Cornell Law School, provides comprehensive career advising with an emphasis on the private sector. She brings extensive experience in counseling across practice areas, industries, and geographic locations to support her work with Cornell Law students. Prior to joining CLS in November 2022, Virginia was a Senior Law Career Counselor at The George Washington University Law School, where her responsibilities included advising on private and public sector business law opportunities and state court clerkships. Previously, she practiced in the capital markets and corporate governance groups at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP (New York), served as the Director of Judicial Clerkships and Professional Development at the University of Arizona Rogers College of Law, and was an assistant director for the New Directions program at the Haub School of Law at Pace University.
Virginia earned her BA in English (cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Williams College and her JD (cum laude) from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she was an Articles Editor on the Journal of International Law & Business. She was a summer associate and an associate at Davis Polk, where she worked on capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, banking and finance, and executive compensation matters. After her initial four years at the firm, she joined GE Capital as Counsel, Treasury Operations. She is a member of the National Association of Law Placement and maintains an active license to practice with the New York State Bar.
Juli Davis | Administrative Assistant
Juli joined the office in 2022 after having previously spent 15 years at Yale Law School. During her tenure there, she held multiple roles including Senior Administrative Assistant, Assistant Director of Administration and Interim Director of Administration. She has experience working with students and alumni in a variety of areas including judicial clerkships, public interest fellowships, and post graduate employment. At Cornell Law, she assists in the administration of the August Job Fair (On Campus Interviewing), the judicial clerkship application process, and conducts outreach/compiles graduate employment data for reporting to the ABA and other professional organizations. She is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University.
