To the Members of the Cornell Law School Community,
As Pride month begins, we want to take time to vocalize our support for protesters across the country. OutLaw unequivocally supports Black Lives Matter and condemns racist violence and police brutality.
This month, we remember that the Stonewall uprising, which paved the way for the modern LGBTQ Rights movement, was a riot spearheaded by black and brown trans women. We remember all the lives that have been senselessly lost to hatred and brutality. We support all the members of our community who deal with racist violence on a daily basis.
We encourage you to read this statement, put out by the Human Rights Campaign and more than 100 leaders of the nation’s most prominent LGBTQ and civil rights organizations.
If you are looking for a way to contribute, please consider donating to this bail fund, which supports 38 community organizations, including the LGBTQ Freedom Fund.
Support and allyship also means educating yourself about practicing active antiracism and combatting white supremacy. To further your education, consider supporting this POC-owned bookstore.
At this challenging moment in history, we understand that support is needed now more than ever. As the leadership of OutLaw, we want to remind the student body that we are available to any and all members who need additional support. If you find yourself struggling, please do not hesitate to reach out.
In solidarity,
Hannah, Anna, Marisa, and Matt
