As Dean of Students, Jenny works to support a diverse student body by overseeing student advising, services, well-being, organizations, events, and programs.

Prior to her current role she served as the Associate Director for Graduate Legal Studies at Cornell Law School. Jenny spent over thirteen years at Wake Forest University Law School, first as coordinator of J.D. Admissions and Financial Aid, and then as International and Graduate Programs manager.

Jenny earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Masters of Arts in English Language and Literature/Letters from Wake Forest University Graduate School.

Marcella (Marcie) P. Purcell, Director of Student Services & Advising

In her role, Director of Student Services & Advising, Marcie will have primary responsibility for student counseling on course selection, degree requirements, and non-academic factors that impact academic, personal, and professional success. She also will support students with navigating the disability accommodations process, as well as with crisis prevention, including wellness, and crisis management.

Marcie joins the Dean of Students Office with extensive experience in student services. She has worked at both the Cornell College of Engineering and the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Marcie has advised students regarding curriculum, academic, and personal matters as well as collaborated with Cornell Health, Title IX, and the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards to enhance the student experience.

Marcie earned her Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education from SUNY Cortland. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, “Cricket” two sons, Alex and Daniel, her brother, her nieces, and her beloved four-legged best friend, Beau.

Daniel Nemeth-Neumann, Director of Student Services & Advising

Daniel Nemeth-Neumann joined Cornell Law School as Director of Student Services & Advising in February 2025. Prior to joining Cornell Law, Dan worked at Onondaga Community College as the Assistant Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator.  Dan also has experience working in student affairs at the University of Maine, University of Akron, and Case Western Reserve University. Dan has taught a course in bar preparation at the Akron School of Law and construction management at Onondaga Community College.

Dan earned both a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master’s degree in structural engineering from Case Western Reserve University. In addition, he earned a master’s degree in higher education from Kent State University and a juris doctorate degree from the Akron School of Law. Dan is admitted to the Ohio bar.

Dan lives in Syracuse, NY with his husband, Chase. In his spare time, Dan enjoys camping, canoeing, board games, building Lego, and taking care of his four fresh water fish tanks.

Josh Haines, Student Engagement Coordinator

Josh is a dedicated professional with a background in Psychology and Criminal Justice, having earned his degree from Elmira College. With experience as the Student Services Assistant in the ILR Office of Student Services, he brings a strong understanding of academic support and student engagement. Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his fiancé, Miah, and their two cats, Coco and Jerry. Josh has a passion for horror movies, video games and traveling. He’s always seeking his next thrilling adventure on screen, in-game or in-person!

Kate Rancruel, Office Coordinator

Kate Rancruel serves as our Office Coordinator, with a master’s in economics and a degree in Business Administration. Following 12 + years of experience in banking, Kate moved to Ithaca with her husband and joined the Law School team. She is passionate about helping students and enjoys travel, family time, movies, and animals.
