Third-year students may specialize in a particular field of law. To encourage such focus, the school grants specialization documentation to students who complete the requirements of one of seven specializations:
- Advocacy
- Business law and regulation
- Conflict Resolution
- General Practice
- Law, inequity, and structural exclusion
- Public Law
- Technology and law
A student may receive recognition for fulfilling only one specialization. Each program requires the completion of 14 credit hours, including a writing course, in the designated area.
Courses qualifying for specialization areas are indicated in the Law School Course Catalog. Students wishing to declare a curricular specialization must fill out a Specialization Declaration Form. Declaration forms must be submitted by the last day of the exam period in the term you plan to graduate. An email will be sent in June with instructions on how to print your specialization documentation.
The specialization does NOT appear on transcripts or the Law School Grade Report.
